I heard the author of this book, Jonah Lehrer, on "Wait wait, don't tell me" the NPR news quiz last night. His book is filled with funny studies conducted on unsuspecting undergrads that show how irrational we are in much of our decision making.
I heard him a few days ago on some other NPR show (I don't know what one, I was in and out of the car), and it was fascinating. It's got me paying more attention to how I make little decisions... strange, the things that end up mattering somehow, when they really have no right to!

ReplyDeleteMore troubling, however, are the things that end up mattering when we're trying to make big decisions when they shouldn't!
